While attending Berlin Heights Junior High he met his one and only childhood sweetheart Nancy Ann Paseur. On September 26, 1979 after finishing college they were united in marriage. To their union they were blessed with 4 wonderful children. Brian Scott born in 1975, Jason Eric born in 1977, Craig David born in 1982 and Wendy Sue born in 1983. Each one of the children are married with the exception of Wendy who is now engaged. William and Nancy are the proud grandparents of 4 wonderful grandchildren and always hoping for more. They are Shelby and Dakota who are the daughter and son of Brian and Martha Laughlin. The other two grandchildren are Jason, Jr. and Emma who are the son and daughter of Jason, Sr. and Dianna Laughlin. During their private life togather both Nancy and Bill were involved with various activities within their community. One of the major ones was being invoved with the Berlin Heights Baseball League. Both Bill and Nancy worked with the many various leagues in their small community foe over 9 years. Later they became involved in the technical field of Amateur Radio and became members for a long period with the Firelands Amateur Repeater Association. Both Bill and Nancy were officers in both and spent much time in building the two organizations.

William (Bill) Ernest Laughlin, son of Willis and Carol Esther (Brod) Laughlin was born on July 19, 1950 in Sandusky, Ohio. Bill is the oldest child of 5, consiting of 2 brothers and 2 sisters. His chilhood years were sprnt growing up in Berlin Township on a small farm owned by his parents. Bill like most kids grew up doing the things a young boy in a rural environment would do consisting of Scouting and Little League Baseball and School Sports and activities. Bill attended Berlin Heights Local Schools in Berlin Heights where he graduated in 1968 which was the last class of the school before they merged with Milan High School and became what is now the Berlin - Milan school system and Edison High School. Bill went on to attend United Electronics Institute of Technology where he received two Associate Degrees. In 1970 he graduated with one degree in Industrial Electronics and the other in Electronic Technology.
